Sin Salvation Demigods of San Francisco Book 3 edition by KF Breene Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews
- Ok, assuming you read the first two books of the series, you know what is going on, so I don't need to go over it. This book wraps up the current storyline but leaves plenty of material for future tales with the same group of characters. (Please!!!) This one had LOTS of action, with Kieran and his six, Lexi , Mordecai, Daisy, and Bria, as well as various ghosts, werewolves & Valens and his goons taking part. All the training and getting ready for the battle that clearly was to come was very exciting. As the final face off approached, I was really on the edge of my seat, even though big battles are usually not my favorite part of books and movies. This one really changed my attitude. The author didn't give away all the tricks up her sleeve while the protagonists were training; which meant that we had a battle that was full of surprises, moved at a good pace, and was not even for an instant boring. I can think of a movie director or two who could learn something from this author! Anyway, I just know when I pick up anything written by Breene, I will never be bored, and she will always have me laughing and hoping for more. Highly recommended!
- I loved this thing. I wasn't sure the author would let Lexi grow up and be everything she could be, but I was wrong. I loved how Alexis grew as well as the relationship with Keiran, and that they actually worked together. I definitely hope that the supporting characters get their own books when Alexis and Keiran are done, of course. I know Daisy is too young now, but maybe in 5 years or so when she's grown, I can't see her with anyone other than one of the 6. Who else would that girl be able to trust? Maybe Thane? I can't wait for the next book but felt completely satisfied with the end of this one. It actually tied up all the loose ends it could, and I think I need to mention again, that I loved seeing Alexis kick ass. Though, I'd like to see Keiran do some more ass kicking in the next book. The steamy scenes would have caused the entire ocean to evaporate! And I really hope to see a wedding or a little baby soul snatcher in one of the next books.
- I'll start by saying if you haven't read the first two books of the series, you need to as this book picks up a short time after the last installment finished. If you're a fan of K.F. Breene and this series, the book continues along the same lines - a strong female heroine and a alpha-esque Hero and their band of merry followers that are almost as good as the two leads. Having freed Kieran's mum, the group focus on the next major task, i.e. bringing down Valens.
Kieran and Alexis' relationship takes a sharp turn down Serious Street as they further to each other physically, emotionally and magically. I've seen a couple of other readers mention that there was too much sex, but I actually really liked the extra steam added in this book. The platonic relationship vibes only take a reader so far and I loved the decent splash of raunch. The one thing that did let me down a teeny bit was the dialogue from Lexi during some of these scenes. There's only so many times I can see words like 'oh', 'yes' and the like thrown around in the hotter scenes before I either roll my eyes a bit or find it cheesy. BUT, the scenes were still great for me as long time fan. Kieran became even more dominant and possessive and I LOVED it. Lexi took a while to commit to the point I felt sorry for Kieran, but the feelings were intense. Va va, voooooom!
Lexi continued to get stronger and I've loved her learning to use her powers. To me, her character didn't move along quite as much as I would have liked, especially after how fabulous she was in the last book, but that might be because I found this book a little slower. The end few chapters more than made of for this, however, as it was amazeballs and I didn't want it to finish.
We get a greater insight into the Six, including what their powers are and I must say that I loved this. It added to the story and gave me more information about a bunch of characters I really enjoy reading about. Mordecai continued to learn about life as a shifter and when his former pack enter stage right with the intent of making sure he isn't a threat by tearing him to pieces, Alexis really shines. Daisy continues to be a fantastic, spit-fire of a character. She shows a little vulnerability in this book as she struggles to fit in with the magical crew, but continues to come into her own by utilising her best skill - her cunning mind, playing an integral part in going against Valens. Bria was also great in this book. I found her funny and still slightly crazy and I love the friendship that's developed between her and Alexis as they support each other. As with other Breene books, it's always refreshing when there are supportive women lifting each other up rather than the jealousy, rivalry, etc. we see when there are other strong female characters in a novel.
I really enjoyed how this book had a few chapters from Valens' point of view, giving a different perspective. I'm not sure if that was the intentional or if was to show how callous Valens actually was, but I found myself feeling a bit torn about how I felt about him, ranging from thinking he was a giant a-hole to feeling a bit sorry for him for having his heart broken by the love of his life. I won't ruin anything, but after reading about Valens and where his story went, I just felt sad. All I could think about was how in Book 2, Valens had a picture of his love Lyra on his nightstand and a photo of Kieran as a boy on his dresser and it just made me sad. Still, no excuse for murdering thousands, I guess lol.
There was a bit more of Kieran trying to line his ducks up in a row in this book and I didn't feel it had as much action as Book 2, but it was still really entertaining and a great follow up. Lexi embracing her role as a Spirit Walker was awesome. One of my favourite quotes is towards the end where she says that not even the dead are safe from Valens, and it's the dead that she's sworn to protect - such a great moment and line in the story.
A lot of the story line is tied up neatly in this book, making me wonder how the next plot thread will fill out, but knowing this author as well as I do (I devour and reread her books all the time - sorry, not sorry), I have compete faith she will make it fabulous. I was hoping the storyline from the epilogue is where things were heading and I'm already peeing myself in excitement for the next book. I reread a lot of parts in this book, needing to take it all in as much as I could and not wanting to leave anything out which is always a signs of a sure winner. It will be going into my favourites folder where the other two books already sit. I love Kieran and Lexi - they are a close runner up to Darius and Reagan, something I never thought would happen.
Just a side note - did anyone else notice that the name 'Magnus' mentioned in the first couple of books has been written as Magnum in this book??? Not sure what's happened there. - This third book of Alexis and Kieran’s story just put you on your toes.. This part is a bit slow paced but full of strong feelings, feisty characters and so much more. Alexis magic is crazy one, she will give them hell when she learn how to use it. This book gave some answers and made more of them. I can not wait to read the next one, to see what will happen.
I love how her kids learn to play the big game, and I love to see more of them in the next book. - What an amazing conclusion to what has been a non-stop thrill ride of a series! (please don’t let it really be over!!) This third installment didn’t pull any punches and jumped right into the action, holding me rapt all the way through. There really just aren’t enough good things to say about this book and this series as a whole. Alexis has become a serious force to be reckoned with and Valens isn’t going to know what hit him when the team comes for him! Bria was as hilarious as ever still and definitely has won a place in my heart. I really loved the way little things (like what their powers really are) about Keiran’s Six are still slowly getting revealed to us. I see SO much potential for spin-offs in every character of this series! I also really enjoyed how thorough K. F. Breene was in her world building, Valens isn’t the only threat we see the crew go up against, even in this culmination story. Adversity builds strength and character and Sin & Salvation was not lacking in adversity in the slightest. Despite there being a lot happening in this story, it doesn’t feel confused and it doesn’t feel rushed. Everything that happens feels like a natural, and needed, resolution to previous story lines and loose ends while still advancing the gang’s readiness for the final confrontation. That being said, I ended the book with still a couple questions in my mind and am hoping for more stories in this world where I will get my answers!!
